“Running out of places to shoot” or “I can’t think of anything to shoot” are mind games that afflict all photographers at some point. Me included. Reminding myself that I live in a city of nearly 14 million people and that it’s almost impossible to run out of places to shoot doesn’t help much either. I still end up in the same old places shooting the same old things.

Needing inspiration and the decision-making process nullified, I entered all of Tokyo’s metro stations into a random list generator.

It spat out a list.

I follow that list

Each week I ride the subway, make my way to the next station on the list, and once I arrive, I take the nearest exit. From there, I just walk for hours and shoot. No aim, no direction, no theme, no nothing. Just see stuff and shoot.
